Education on the road – visual learning through experience

As part of the Education on the Road project, Baba Husky has contributed to the development of a new series of educational visual scenarios inspired by experiential learning, sustainability, mobility, and lifelong learning.

Drawing from Finnish educational approaches that emphasize learning through nature, participation, creativity, wellbeing, and community engagement, the project combines adult education with practical experiences, reflection, and real-world exploration.

The newly created visual sketchnote scenarios present six thematic learning paths designed for adult learners, educators, trainers, and community organizations:

  1. Cultural and Natural Heritage Exploration
Learning through discovering local heritage, storytelling, observation, and cultural identity.
  2. Nature Exploration and Sustainability Awareness
Strengthening environmental awareness, mindfulness, and sustainable thinking through outdoor learning experiences.
  3. Second Life of Products and Recycling
Promoting circular economy ideas, creative reuse, DIY workshops, and sustainable everyday choices.
  4. Circular Community Event
Encouraging community participation, cooperation, civic engagement, and sustainability actions at the local level.
  5. Traditional Crafts and Sustainable Techniques
Connecting traditional craftsmanship with modern sustainability practices and intergenerational knowledge transfer.
  6. Intergenerational Craft Lab
Bringing generations together through creativity, dialogue, shared experiences, and collaborative learning.

The graphics were designed in a hand-drawn educational sketchnote style to make learning more accessible, inspiring, and visually engaging. Each scenario supports the idea that education can happen everywhere — in nature, communities, workshops, conversations, and shared experiences.

The project reflects many values strongly connected with Finnish educational philosophy: trust, participation, wellbeing, creativity, sustainability, and learning throughout life.

Through Education on the Road, learning becomes a journey — open, inclusive, practical, and connected with the world around us.
