Eco Traveller
Travelling is much more than moving from one place to another. Every journey involves decisions that influence both the environment and the communities we visit. The Eco Traveller badge encourages adult learners to recognise that sustainable travel begins with everyday choices.
Within the Education on the Road project, participants discover that responsible mobility is not about being perfect. Instead, it is about becoming more aware of the impact of our actions. Choosing public transport, carrying a reusable water bottle, supporting local businesses, reducing waste or simply respecting local communities are all small steps that contribute to a more sustainable future.
The badge invites learners to reflect on questions such as:
- How do I travel?
- What choices do I make during my journey?
- How can I reduce my environmental footprint?
- How can I support the places I visit?
Rather than teaching sustainability through theory alone, the project allows participants to experience it in real-life situations. Through educational mobilities, observation and discussion, they realise that responsible tourism and environmental awareness can become a natural part of everyday life.
The Eco Traveller badge recognises learners who demonstrate growing environmental awareness, responsible decision-making and a willingness to adopt sustainable habits—one journey at a time.
