BADGE+ SYSTEM
Learning does not only happen in classrooms. Some of the most valuable learning experiences take place while travelling, exploring new cultures, meeting local communities, or discovering natural and cultural heritage. The Education on the Road – Microcredentials in Adult Education project embraces this idea by developing an innovative system that recognises and validates learning wherever it happens.
At the heart of the project is the Badge+ Recognition System, which transforms learning experiences into visible achievements and recognised microcredentials. Instead of simply confirming participation, Badge+ focuses on what participants have actually learned, the evidence they have collected, and the validation of their learning outcomes.
The project introduces six educational pathways, each leading to a dedicated microcredential and badge:
- Digital Explorer – digital storytelling and cultural heritage
- Eco Traveller – sustainability awareness and responsible travel
- Circular Creator – reuse, repair and upcycling skills
- Sustainable Observer – community action for sustainability
- Heritage Craft Creator – traditional crafts and sustainable techniques
- Eco-Cultural Storyteller – intergenerational learning and cultural exchange
Each badge can be recognised and shared in multiple formats, including an Open Digital Badge, certificate, social media badge, printable sticker, and as part of a personal learning portfolio. This makes competences gained through mobility activities visible, transferable and valuable for lifelong learning and future professional development.
The Education on the Road project demonstrates that every journey can become a learning experience. By combining mobility, experiential learning, cultural exchange and innovative microcredentials, we are creating new opportunities for adult learners across Europe to document, celebrate and share their achievements.
