This publication has been developed as a practical and accessible resource for participants of educational mobility activities, especially adults and seniors taking part in international learning experiences. Its purpose is to support participants before, during, and after mobility by presenting the most important aspects of preparation, participation, and reflection in a clear and user-friendly way.
The brochure brings together key information related to personal preparation for mobility, safe travel, practical organisation, and the development of competences that can grow through learning on the move. It shows that educational mobility is not limited to participation in workshops or international meetings. It is also a meaningful process of building confidence, independence, responsibility, openness, and readiness for further learning.
A central idea of the brochure is that mobility should be understood as a broader educational journey. For this reason, the publication highlights not only logistical preparation, but also the personal and developmental dimension of participation. It encourages learners to think about what they want to learn, what kind of experience they want to gain, in which areas they want to grow, and what they will bring back to their community after returning home. In this way, mobility becomes both an individual learning experience and a source of wider social value.
The brochure also presents the main competences that may be strengthened during mobility. These include digital competences, such as using a smartphone for learning, documenting educational experiences, and staying connected with the group; intercultural competences, such as openness, empathy, dialogue, and understanding differences and similarities; green competences, including responsible travel, conscious consumer choices, and care for the environment; and social competences, such as teamwork, mutual support, and relationship building. By bringing these dimensions together, the brochure reflects the project’s broader vision of learning as something practical, relational, and deeply connected with everyday life.
An important part of the publication is its focus on safety, structure, and confidence in mobility participation. The brochure reminds participants that educational mobility can and should be well prepared, supported, and organised in a way that makes the experience safe and meaningful. It includes guidance on maintaining contact with coordinators, using practical travel tools, preparing documents and health-related information, and taking part in mobility in a structured and supportive format. This is especially important for adult learners and seniors, for whom good preparation often has a direct impact on comfort, confidence, and full participation.
The brochure also underlines that the learning process does not end with the journey itself. Returning home is presented as another important stage of mobility. Participants are encouraged to reflect on what they have gained, how they have changed, and how they can use their new knowledge and experience in practice. In this sense, mobility is shown as a starting point for further growth, stronger community engagement, and continued lifelong learning.
As the first brochure prepared within the project, this publication is also an important dissemination tool. It helps explain the idea of Education on the Road in a simple and engaging way and translates the project’s objectives into an understandable message for participants, educators, and organisations working in adult education. It is designed not only to inform, but also to motivate and support a more conscious approach to educational mobility.
We believe that this first brochure will be a valuable tool for learners, trainers, mobility organisers, and partner institutions. It is a practical example of how project results can be turned into accessible educational materials that strengthen inclusion, participation, and the quality of adult learning experiences.
The brochure was prepared as part of the dissemination activities of the project and represents an important step in creating useful, friendly, and meaningful learning resources for adults participating in international mobility.
